My fault. I missed this thread when I posted the other one.
TS,
just come across summat on a scientology investigation page and it mentioned the firephim that was signed in 1992 in strasborg .

just wondered if anyone knew anything about this?.

TS,
here's a translation from french on the international federation of religious and philosophiocal minorities (firephim).. surprising (not!
) to see the wts in an "association" (their word) with scientology, moonies, mormons, wica, etc, etc.. oh ya, don't forget that "jehovah's witnesses have nothing in common with other religious groups and can never seek any affiliation with them.
" (awake!
MA,
I agree. The link I posted however was not from an "anti-cult" source, but was from the Center of Consultation on the New Religions, which I would have to say is pro-cult.
It sounds like the source for the claim that the WTS is part of FIREPHIM (at least at this site) came from this book:
DICTIONARY OF the RELIGIOUS GROUPS Today Religions:églises:sectes:nouveaux spiritualistic movements religieux:mouvements.
By Jean Vernette: assisted by Claire Moncelon second re-examined and corrected edition: January 1996
University presses of France ISBN 2 13 047036x

My thoughts exactly. Please see the thread I just started on this topic (WTS member of FIREPHIM)

TS,
hi everyone!
well, im a newbie here, so ill make this short!
ive showed my mom the ngo status the watchtower shared with the un for 10 years now... of course, shes now denying it was a bad decision... she says the un is bad as a whole, but joining in as an ngo is okay since its not directly with the un... any tips?
It's not clear to me how a jw can take the "it's not so bad stance".
The Watchtower Society claims the UN is the scarlet-colored wild beast of Revelation, and the disgusting thing of Daniel. Really, you can't get much worse than this unless you are Satan himself. There are many quotes taken from WTS literature demonstrating this in the WTS-UN-NGO thread.
Despite this fact, the WTS solicited the UN for formal association, and in doing so, committed to "support the work of the United Nations" and "devote a portion of their information programmes to promoting knowledge of the United Nations' principles and activities".
*The Watchtower Society has committed to support the work of the scarlet-colored wild beast.*
*They have agreed to devote a portion of their publications to promoting the beasts agenda.*
I wonder, would Jehovah share his "channel of communication" with the beast/disgusting thing?

truth1,
the gb and their toadies are probably reading this thread right now.
This is the usual method of "research" for the WTS. Kinda cool to know that "new light" actually comes from apostates, huh? (Quite an epiphany for me, when I first realized this fact.)
TS,
i'm interested in finding out what everyone is reading these days.. or what books have had an impact on your worldview since leaving the org.. what have you found helpful in re-constructing and broadening the way you think and feel?.
what have you found to be particularly enlightening on 'your journey?'.
thanks in advance,luv to all.tina.
I read Penton, and Franz's book when I left the borg. Also 'Kingdom of the Cults' by Walter Martin. This book really puts the WTS in perspective, with regard to other cults. Also read Hassan's book on mind control.
Right now I'm in the middle of 'Meditations' by Marcus Aurelius. Also reading 'The Hobbit' to my kids (man I love Tolkien).
I picked up 'Animal Farm' (George Orwell) the other day. Hadn't read it since high school. Here's an excerpt, sound at all familiar?
Squealer was sent to make the necessary explanations to the others.'Comrades!' he cried. 'You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and priviledge? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these apples is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (and this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organization of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty? Jones would come back! Surely, comrades,' cried squealer almost pleadingly, skipping from side to side and whisking his tail, 'surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back?'
Now if there was one thing that the animals were completely sure of, it was that they did not want Jones back. When it was put to them in this light, they had no more to say. The importance of keeping the pigs in good health was all too obvious. So it was agreed without further argument that the milk and the windfall apples (and also the main crop of apples when they ripened) should be reserved for the pigs alone.
TS,
hi, in a continued effort to educate my fiance and open his eyes, i am trying to understand how to refute certain things he has said and get proof of some of the issues that i have read on various threads here over the past week.
please, please, can people answer back on how i should respond.... 1. in franz's book, he doesn't come out and say that he was one of the annointed, but yet he accepted a position as a member of the gb (my fiance spoke to franz last week and asked him a question regarding being annointed, to which franz answered "well, i had the a heavenly hope that i was annointed.." well, that threw my fiance off and now he doubts whether franz ever truly believed he was annointed.
i have told him that noone can ever prove if they were annointed, but he says that the annointed "just know, they have that feeling and know without a doubt that they will be in heaven with god and jesus.
concerned:
There are links regarding the African JW presidential candidate at Kent's site: http://watchtower.observer.org
Also here is a link to a document at Randy's site on the recent voting issue: http://www.freeminds.org/doctrine/voting2.htm
Also I recommend looking into the United Nations ngo matter. Why has the Watchtower Society committed to support the work of the organization they claim to be the scarlet beast of Revelation, and the enemy of God? They condemn "false religion" for supporting the UN out of one side of their mouth, while they support the UN themselves out of the other side of their mouth:
“The UN, then, is actually a revival of the scarlet-colored wild beast.” (Revelation – Its Grand Climax At Hand, pg. 248)“Shortly, “crazed” members of the UN will be maneuvered by Jehovah to turn on false religion...” ('The Watchtower' magazine, May 1 1997, pg. 17,18)
“...the United Nations, “a scarlet-colored wild beast” that is the image of Satan’s bloodstained political system.” ('Mankind's Search for God', pg. 370)
(The following excerpt is from a letter I wrote to some jw family and friends, regarding the WTS association with the UN as an ngo...)
The role of these non-governmental organizations that are associated with the United Nations is defined in UN resolution 1296 (XLIV) of May 23, 1968, which states that an NGO “…shall undertake to support the work of the United Nations and to promote knowledge of its principles and activities.”Additional requirements and responsibilities for these NGOs are defined in official UN documents. According to these documents, a non-governmental organization that is associated with the UN must:
“Share the ideals of the UN Charter.”
“Disseminate information about the UN to their membership, thereby building knowledge of and support for the organization at the grassroots level. This dissemination includes: publicizing UN activities around the world on such issues as peace and security, economic and social development, human rights, humanitarian affairs and international law; promoting UN observances and international years established by the General Assembly to focus world attention on important issues facing humanity.”
“Operate solely on a not-for-profit basis.”
“Have a demonstrated interest in United Nations issues and proven ability to reach large or specialized audiences…”
“Have the commitment and means to conduct effective information programmes about UN activities by publishing newsletters, bulletins, and pamphlets…”
Here are a couple more of the responsibilities of an NGO associated with the UN:
“…disseminating information and mobilizing public opinion in support of the UN and its Specialized Agencies.”
“Associated NGOs are expected to devote a portion of their information programmes to promoting knowledge of the United Nations' principles and activities.”
